The new song "I Drive Fast" has finally been released.  This is one of the shortest songs we've ever done at a little less than 2 minutes long.  Its about taking life at full speed and never giving up.

This is one of those songs that I wrote very quickly just sitting at the piano and then later I took some more time and finished off the lyrics a bit more.  Often, I get the chorus to a song before I get anything else and based on this phrase I determine if it's worth it to continue writing the song.  So in the case of "I Drive Fast" I got the phrase 'I Drive Fast' a few months beforehand then one day I felt I was ready to finish writing the song so I did the rest based on that phrase.  Often I find that if the starting point is good then the rest will come quite easily.  I like to wait a long time before I finish songs because then I can listen to the song again and determine if it is actually good.  Sometimes a song will sound good when you're writing it but later it will lose its vibe.  I also feel it's important to only spend time on good ideas rather than trying to rescue an idea that isn't working.  Next month I'll talk a little more about my song writing process.
